FAQ’s

Here at Scrub Mutts we get asked a lot questions in regards to your pet and our business. Below are the most asked questions.

Do you work when it rains?

I don’t work in heavy rain. Only if it is a little drizzle and it depends on the customer’s needs. For example, if the customer has an inside dog and it’s drizzling then I would wash the dog.

Are you able to drive up steep driveways?

Yes. I have a 4wd, however, I will need to park on a flat area in order for the hydrobath to operate properly.

Do you clip breed specific styles?

No, I’m an entry level groomer. My grooming style is basic and focuses more on a comfort clip for your dog (all over groom).

Do you wash larger dogs?

Yes. I will wash any size and any breed. All dogs are welcomed in my trailer.

My dog can be nippy, jumpy, or anxious when having a bath. Are you able to wash my dog?

Yes. I like to take a gentle and relaxed approach with dogs. It’s all about trust. I will only use a muzzle if I absolutely need to and that is to protect myself and your dog.

Do I need to be home for my appointment?

As long as I have access to power source, water and of course your dogs, it’s up to you. Some people like to meet me first and then are happy for me to wash the dog when they are not home.

How often do I need to wash my dog?

This will depend on the type of coat your dog has.
Average time frame:
Mainly inside dogs: 2-4 weeks
Half inside/half outside: 3-4 weeks
Mainly outside: 4-6 weeks

Do you accept cash or card?

Currently I only take cash or bank transfer.

Do you clip larger dogs?

Yes I clip large dogs as long as the dog’s coat is a single layer. For example, large poodles and Giant Schnauzers have a single coat. Breeds such as Newfoundlands, Malamutes and some Border Collies have a double coat. I would advise not to shave any dog that has a double coat.

There is a great article on this topic and they have explained this well:
